Friday 7 September. Croeso supper party at Mortonhall Golf club. 7.30pm
Our “Croeso” opening meeting with turns and entertainments, a finger buffet, and plenty of time to chat, will be held at the Mortonhall Golf Club. I am waiting for final costing, but please make a note in your diary, and my next EWSNEWS will have final details.

Three Welsh shows spotted in the Festival Fringe:
- (p 197) Dance. Blue Scar … Avant Cymru. Family hip-hop dance tale of S Wales valleys culture of the 70s/80s. Venue C Chambers Street. August 1–27 at 15:20 for 50 minutes (prices vary)
- (p 320) Theatre. Chwedl: Fairytales from Wales: A fun-filled 50-minute romp through ancient fairy tales from Wales. Delve deep into the stories, myths, language and delicious cultural intricacies that make Wales the beautiful place that it is.
Folk Storytelling from Puckish Productions and Tidal Town Theatre. Venue Riddle’s Court, 322 Lawnmarket, Royal Mile August 23–27 at 13:00 (50 min). £6.00 (£4.00 concession) - (p324) Theatre. The Dark Philosophers (Italia Conti Ensemble 2018) A great big sad beautiful joke. The stories of Gwyn Thomas’ 1930’s Rhondda Valley are told with music wild humour and joyous humanity. Expect punch-ups, murderous plots, sex and something lurking in the cabbage patch.

Sunday, 23 September. Concert by the Australian Welsh Male Choir. 7.30pm
Prior to their appearance at the Royal Albert Hall for the London Welsh Festival of Male Choirs, The Australian Welsh Male Choir (Australia’s Premier Welsh Choir) will perform in Concert in aid of Maggie’s Edinburgh at 7.30pm on Sunday 23 September 2018 at St Andrew’s & St George’s West Church, 13-17 George Street, Edinburgh EH2 2PA.
