The story so far:
Friday 29 November. St Andrew’s Night party. Priestfield Church hall at 7.30pm.
Our St Andrew’s Night supper party was greatly enjoyed by all. The supper was tasty and plenty of it. Many thanks to Lilian John and all the helpers and servers.
It was followed by an excellent quiz devised and presented by Pamela Williams. The evening was rounded off with a short singsong led by David Hughes.
Sunday 8 December. Carol service at 3.00pm, followed by party at 4.00pm. Reid Memorial large hall.
Well, what a splendid afternoon we had at the Reid! The service was conducted by Margaret Brandie, with added theatrics from husband, Chris, and accompaniment for the carols by Huw Thomas. Many thanks to them and to the lesson-readers.
After the service we moved to the tables for a proper vestry tea, with lemonade for the ten children, and plenty of tea for the rest of us. Many thanks to everyone who brought sandwiches, pastries, cakes etc.
The children then played party games organised by Margaret and finally were given a goodie bag to take home, with a mini sock to hang on the tree hand knitted by me.
Forthcoming events:
Friday 7 February 2025. Chinese Banquet. Priestfield Church hall at 7.30pm.
We meet in Priestfield Church hall, 2 Marchhall Place, EH16 5HW where we bring in the New Year, Scottish and Chinese, with a banquet organised by Lilian John. Cordial will be provided but anyone wanting something “stronger” is welcome to bring their own. Supper will be followed by chat, entertainment and singing of course.
The cost has been kept to £21 each, and I need numbers please by Monday 3 February. Please email me at secretary@edinburghwelshsociety.org. Please note, we are everso sorry that the “possible talk” via Zoom we hoped to bring you in January has not been possible, so we hope very much to reinstate this at some point soon. Keep reading my EWSNEWS for further announcements.
