EWSNEWS – March 2018

The story so far…

This year’s dinner and Gymanfa Ganu were called off because of the unkind and unsafe weather conditions. Naturally we were all very disappointed, and your committee has been working hard to get back on track, as you will see. We have also managed to reinstate the film show from January …

Forthcoming events:

Sunday 25 March. Film show in the Reid Memorial Church small hall at 3.00pm.

Here, at last is your chance to see the film, “Grand Slam”, postponed from January.  We are all holding our breath that we have seen the last of the snow and on with the show.  A chance to chat over a cuppa after the film is an extra pleasure.

[Note the suggestion made in January that you should feel free to contact a committee member before heading out into really bad weather, should it happen again!]

Friday 20 April. Cinio Gwyl Dewi at 7.00 for 7.30pm at Mortonhall Golf Club, 231 Braid Rd, Edinburgh EH10 6PB.

It has taken a while to rearrange the dinner, but here we are. Our menu and price remain the same and I am delighted that our Gwr Gwadd, John Evans is free to toast our patron saint in our usual wonderful way.

Our members fall into four categories:

  1. Those on my March list who are free to join us on our new date. Just let me know you are coming, please.
  2. Those who couldn’t come in March but are now free to join us.  If so, please send me your menu choices and cheque. The menu is at this link.
  3. Those on my March list who are sadly not free to come along on 20 April. Your payment will be reimbursed once I know who you are.
  4. Those not on my list who are still not able to join us.

Whichever category you fall into, I would really really appreciate hearing from you. Please phone (0131 335 3161) or email me ewsccd@gmail.com) so I know how you are, and that my April dinner list is accurate.

Sunday 22 April. Mini Gymanfa in the Reid Memorial Church small hall at 3.00pm.

I now have the details of this important item in our annual calendar.  We meet in the small hall as the large hall is being redecorated. Refreshments will be served after the festival of hymns.

Warmest get-well wishes to those members who are unwell, either at home, or in hospital.

I look forward everso much to seeing you soon.
