EWSNEWS – still January 2018
The story so far…
Sunday 21 January. Film show in the Reid Memorial Church small hall at 3.00pm.
With regret your committee decided to postpone the showing of our film, “Grand Slam” in view of the worsening weather. Apologies to all who were disappointed, and especially to the two intrepid members who ventured out through the snow. Thank you to David who volunteered to stand and shiver at the church door to meet any hardy souls and explain.
In the event of this happening again, can I suggest – if in doubt, please feel free to contact a committee member before heading out into really bad weather. I am sure you will appreciate it would be impossible for us to contact the entire membership on such short notice for such a meeting. (This is obviously easier for events such as the Chinese banquet for which the Hon. Sec. has a guest list)
Forthcoming events:
Friday 9 February. Chinese banquet in Priestfield Church hall at 7.30pm.
As I put in my last EWSNEWS, we meet at Priestfield Church Hall, Dalkeith Road, EH16 5HW for our Chinese banquet served with non-alcofrolic elderflower, and followed by tea or coffee. (Please feel free to bring your own wine or beer. Glasses will be provided.) We can offer vegetarian alternatives but will need to know in advance! We then round off the evening with “turns” performed by our members.
The cost of the evening will be £12 each and we need numbers by Friday 2 February please, along with your cheque made payable to Edinburgh Welsh Society or Cymdeithas Cymry Dineidyn. Do you need a lift, or can you offer a lift? Please indicate this when you let me know (0131 335 3161 or ewsccd@gmail.com).
It is extremely important that we get numbers in good time. By the way, it would be everso helpful for me to have a list of those definitely not coming if possible. Many thanks to those who have already replied.
Friday 2 March. Cinio Gwyl Dewi at 7.00 for7.30pm.
Please note – we have changed the venue of the St David’s Day dinner to Mortonhall Golf Club, 231 Braid Rd, Edinburgh EH10 6PB. The cost of the dinner remains at £25 each. Further details will follow in my very next EWSNEWS.
Our very best get well wishes go to all who have been struck by the many nasty bugs going round over the last months. I hope we all enjoy a happy and healthy 2018 and I look forward everso much to seeing you soon.
