The story so far:
Tuesday 28 April. Annual General Meeting via Zoom. 7.30pm
We held our Annual General Meeting via Zoom.
We are grateful to our Committee members who have agreed to serve another year; and delighted to welcome Helen Campbell, who brings fresh ideas and useful contacts. One lovely innovation introduced by Helen is “Clwb Coffi” an informal meet and greet, at a variety of venues. Full details of where and when will be included in future EWSNEWS.
It was decided to maintain the current rates of annual subscription at £17 for a single member or £25 for a family. Please note your subs are now due for the 2026–7 session and your support is vital to us. Payment as usual please by cheque payable to Edinburgh Welsh Society and posted to me, or by bank transfer: Account name: Edinburgh Welsh Society. Account #: 00299707, Sort code: 80-02-77. A printed programme card will be posted to all members who pay.
Our committee have put together a programme of events for the coming session, which you can find on our Programme page. Please note: we hope to continue to use the Reid Memorial Church hall, but have been advised that the premises may be sold, in which case our bookings may not be honoured. Fingers crossed!

Forthcoming events:
Saturday 22 August. Picnic / barbecue at Liberton Kirk centre. From 12.30pm (now 2.00pm–4.00pm).
We join with the group of young Welsh families who meet at Liberton Kirk, 28 Kirkgate, EH16 6RY, for a family get together. All are invited, and some small contribution of food would be welcome. We will have the use of the hall, and garden – weather permitting. I thoroughly enjoyed last year’s picnic, and was pleased to welcome some of the youngsters to our Christmas Party last December.
Friday 18 September. Croeso. Mortonhall Golf Club at 7.30pm.
Our first formal meeting of the session serves as an ideal opportunity to catch up after the summer break. A buffet supper will be followed by entertainment, and of course, singing. Please mark the date in your diary and look out for full details in my next EWSNEWS.
Wednesday 7 October. Clwb Coffi #1. 10.00am – noon.
We try out our first coffee club. This will be a chance to meet, and chat over a cuppa. Bring your friends, all welcome. Please mark the date and time, and look out for further details.

Betsi. The Welsh Nurse History Forgot.
Herstorytheatrecompany (https://herstorytheatrecompany.co.uk/betsi/) is bringing the story of nurse Betsi Cadwaladr to the Edinburgh Fringe. A two-woman show tells of Betsi’s journey to the Crimea, taken from her autobiography. The story of a genuine Welsh heroine. Suitable for age 12+.
