EWSNEWS October 2025
The story so far:
Friday 19 September Croeso. Mortonhall Golf Club, at 7.30pm.
The Croeso was good fun, plenty of chat and lots to eat. The map of the world came out again and more places of interest were added. (Many thanks to Alison who helped me locate the Faroe Islands) This was followed by community singing led by Huw Thomas, with his keyboard for accompaniment.
Forthcoming events:
Sunday 26 October Harvest Thanksgiving Service. Reid Memorial large hall, at 3.00pm
We come together to give thanks for all our many blessings through our hymns, prayers and readings. There will be a table set aside for donations to the local food bank, so if you are able to contribute offerings of store cupboard food or toiletries, they would be very gratefully received.
Friday 28 November St Andrew’s Night supper. Priestfield Church hall, at 7.30pm
Please mark the date in your diary. Further details will follow in my November EWSNEWS.
Other events of interest:
Monday 13 October Poetry reading. Lighthouse Bookshop, at 6.30pm
Menna Elfyn will be reading some of her poems in Welsh and translations in English in the Lighthouse Bookshop, 43–45 Nicolson Street, EH8 9DP. (0131 662 9112). This is one stop on a nationwide tour (mennaelfyn@btinternet.com).
Sunday 26 October Concert at the Queen’s Hall, at 7.00pm
As mentioned previously, John’s Boys Welsh Male Voice Choir will be performing their Scottish debut on the evening of our harvest service. For tickets, please contact the box office on 0131 668 2019.
I look forward to seeing you very soon.
