EWSNEWS  September 2026

The story so far:

Saturday 22 August. Picnic / barbecue at Liberton Kirk centre from 2.00pm.

The weather was kind, the gardens were lovely, the food was lavish (including several boxes of Welsh cakes) and the company was grand. Small boys kicked a ball around while tiny girls in very pretty dresses flounced about in the sunshine. Babies slept and we grown-ups chatted contentedly. I am so glad I went.

Forthcoming events:

Friday 18 September. Croeso. Mortonhall Golf Club at 7.30pm.

The golf club (at 231 Braid Road, EH10 6PB) is booked, the menu has been chosen for a tasty buffet supper, and entertainment thought about. For £20 each, we hope to provide a welcome back evening after a strange summer. I need numbers before their deadline of Monday 14 September, so please get in touch ASAP.

Wednesday 7 October. Clwb Coffi #1. 10.00am – noon.

We try out our first coffee club. This will be a chance to meet, and chat over a cuppa. Bring your friends, all welcome. I hope this is already in your diaries. We will be meeting this time at the Rocksalt Café, 46 Constitution St., Leith, EH6 6RS. Future CC meetings will be held at different venues, so look out for updates in my EWSNEWS.
