EWSNEWS November 2022

The story so far

Sunday 30 October. Harvest Thanksgiving Service at the Reid Memorial Church at 3.00pm

Our Harvest service was very much enjoyed by the twenty three members present. Many thanks to Margaret Brandie who arranged and conducted the service, to David Hughes who read the lesson, to Myra Tarr who played the piano and to Chris Brandie for his beautifully illustrated and very thoughtful talk on caring and sharing the bounties of our world. Thanks too to Lilian and Huw John for providing the tea and bara brith, and to everyone who donated groceries for the local food bank, much appreciated by the Church.

Forthcoming events:

Friday 25 November. St Andrew’s Evening at Priestfield Church hall at 7.30pm.

You are invited to our supper party at Priestfield, 2 Marchhall Place, Edinburgh, EH16 5HW, with plenty of chat as we tuck in to haggis, neeps and tatties, followed by cranachan, and tea or coffee. If you fancy a glass of wine or cordial, please bring your own bottle. Glasses will be provided. This will be followed by entertainment (call my bluff) and a spot of community singing to round off the evening. The charge will be £20 each, and Lilian and I need names ASAP please and payment to me – if you don’t have my address or the bank details, please get in contact by email at secretary@edinburghwelshsociety.org.

Sunday 11 December. Christmas Carol Service at the Reid Memorial Church at 3.00pm
Our service of carols and lessons will be arranged and conducted by Margaret Brandie. Following the service there will be a vestry tea, and if you are able, donations of scran – sweet or savoury will be most welcome. Please let me know before hand if you plan to bring a little something for the feast, so I can co-ordinate appropriately. You can contact me by email as above or phone 0131 335 3161. Many thanks in anticipation!

I look forward to seeing you very soon.
