Our St Andrew’s night supper party at Priestfield Church Hall was well attended. Our lovely dancers, some we have had the pleasure of meeting before, and some new, tiny performers, started the evening beautifully. Our haggis supper was hot, plentiful and very tasty. Hywel and Pam produced another of their splendid quizzes, and we rounded the evening off with community singing.

Harvest Service
Sunday 8 October 2017
Our Harvest service was held in the large hall of the Reid and was beautifully conducted by Margaret and Chris Brandie, with Huw Thomas at the piano. We had one hymn with English words, sung to a Welsh tune, and one new hymn, as suggested by members. The service was well attended and a table-full of donations of non-perishable “dried goods” was left to be taken to the local food bank following the service.

We had a splendid turnout of 35 at our opening meeting at Prestonfield Golf Club, including guests and new members. Huw John started the evening’s entertainment with his reading of Dylan Thomas’s wonderful words. We then had a picture quiz devised by Hywel and Pamela Williams which stirred our little grey cells. A tasty buffet supper was followed by a film show of past events and outings beautifully recorded by Geoff Alsop. We ended with a short but enthusiastic spot of community singing led by Jim Hughes.
Christmas celebrations

Our Christmas carol service was led by Margaret Brandie with readings by Chris Brandie, David Hughes and Stephanie Ledger. Huw Thomas accompanied the carols. We then enjoyed a tasty tea, complete with rainbow jelly, ice cream and custard. While the grown-ups enjoyed a second (or even third) cuppa, Margaret organised games for the wee people. Just as they finished passing the parcel we heard jingle bells, and in strolled Santa with a sack full of presents, one for each youngster. An enormous thank you to all, readers, singers, bakers, tea makers and washer uppers.
